In the year 2005, Gilles Robien, Minister of National Education, suggested seven skills or competences that lie beneath teaching in primary and secondary schools. Kids are predictable to have an authority of these competences when they go away from collège. These seven skills are:

1)Mastery of the French language;
2)Useful Information of a living, contemporary language;
3)The essential elements of maths, science and machinery;
4)Knowledge with the widespread techniques of communication and obtaining information;
5)The humanities;
6)Communal and public blame;
7)Independence and initiative.

In case pupils obtain these skills, then in addition to being winning at school, on one occasion they go from school, they should manage well in specialized life, and complete their potential.

This is the primary time in view of the fact that the Jules Ferry laws of 1882 that the State is specifying precisely what kids should be learning at school. And to observe the job through, Robien has chosen a Committee of Orientation, with each capability overseen by a member of the group. Over the near-term year the squad of seven experts will work out the structure for introducing the entire project productively into schools.

There will be evaluations to make sure that students are greedy the competences, the first at the end of CE1 which will be looking chiefly at the typical of reading and writing; the next at the end of most important education, examining chiefly grammar, basic calculations and the four basic operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) and the third in college where the brevet will charge pupils on all seven aspects. An individual brochure will let the pupil, his or her relatives and the teachers to plan the progressive gaining of the competences, coming into result in the school year 2007/2008.
